Children’s community library & play center

Located in rural Mayuge District, our Children’s Community Library and Play Center offers a free, safe, and enriching space where children can discover the joy of reading and learning through play. With a wide range of age-appropriate books and hands-on educational games, the centre helps children develop early literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking skills while cultivating a lasting love for reading. Currently, the library serves over 200 children from three neighboring villages.

The play centre has become a favourite gathering spot for children in the community. It is fully stocked with LEGO building blocks, wooden abacuses, flashcards, and board games—resources that are rarely found in rural homes and schools. These tools are not just for fun; they stimulate creativity, build fine motor skills, and support cognitive development. The center provides a safe alternative to idle time, helping children stay engaged in meaningful, educational activities during and after school hours.

As one parent shared:
“My child no longer loiters in the village—she now spends her time at the Kach-up play center. She enjoys building things using the blocks, and I’ve seen a big change in her focus and confidence.”
Through the library and play center, we are creating a generation of curious, capable, and confident learners—right in the heart of the community.
