Kach-up Learning Hub helps children in Uganda’s underserved communities learn to read and count.
We aim to level the education playing field in Uganda, so every child has a fair shot at a meaningful education and a thriving future.
How we do it
We train pre-primary and primary school teachers in effective, learner-centred methods they use to build children’s foundational reading and numeracy skills.
We equip parents with simple techniques to support learning at home.
We run children’s community learning spaces where learning continues beyond the school gates.

83% of children in Uganda cannot read and understand a simple story by age 10. (World bank 2024)
Over 60% of young children have no access to any pre-primary education, so they start school already behind. (UNICEF 2023)
More than 6 in 10 children who start primary school drop out before completing P.7. (UNICEF 2024)
Theory of change
We work in Uganda to help teachers, parents, and communities give children strong foundations in reading and numeracy, through teacher training, active parental engagement, and community learning spaces, so that every child in Uganda can read for meaning by Primary 4.
Our core belief
We believe that reading and number skills are the foundation that all other learning sits on.
When children don’t gain these skills early, they can’t learn from what comes next, even when they show up to school every day.
Our work equips teachers, parents, and communities with the knowledge, skills, and resources to build these foundations.
