History

In 2020, our founder Martha Ayikiriize Kyeyune became a Teach For Uganda placed in the rural areas of Eastern Uganda. She got a first-hand experience of the learning crisis; she taught children in primary 5 and 6 that could barely read simple three-letter words.

In 2023, after her two-year fellowship, she stayed behind and volunteered to teach reading in nearby public schools. She realised that she couldn’t teach every child how to read on her own. She started Kach-up Learning Hub to train teachers since they have direct contact with learners.

In 2024, D-Prize Teaching at the Right Level pilot grant. Kach-up Learning Hub has since trained 25 teachers from 5 primary schools and reached over 700 learners.
